The Treatment
What is a Bamboo massage?
Bamboo massage uses warmed bamboo canes of varying sizes as massage tools, extending the therapist's reach, pressure and precision beyond what hands and forearms can achieve. The canes are heated and used in rolling, pressing and kneading movements across the body.
The smooth, dense surface creates a distinctive rolling pressure that covers larger muscle areas in each stroke, stimulates circulation and delivers consistent deep pressure without the fatigue that limits manual deep-tissue work. It sits between hot stone and deep tissue: warmer and more rolling than deep tissue, more active than hot stone.
Bamboo massage is uncommon in Dubai, and Aurrum is one of the few venues to offer it with a properly trained therapist. Even guests who have had every other treatment describe it as a genuinely new experience.

Bamboo massage FAQ
Is bamboo massage painful?
No more than deep tissue, and many guests find it noticeably more comfortable. The warmed bamboo canes roll across the muscle rather than pressing into single points, so the pressure spreads over a broader surface and deep work arrives without the sharp, focused sensation of thumbs or elbows. What you feel is a smooth, weighted rolling that flattens tension out of larger muscle groups, occasionally intense over a stubborn knot but never harsh. As always at Aurrum, you control the depth: your therapist checks in during the session and lightens or deepens the work the moment you ask. If it is your first bamboo session, start at a medium depth and let the therapist build gradually; the technique keeps its benefit at every pressure level. Mild soreness the next day is possible after very deep work, exactly as with deep tissue.
Does the bamboo feel rough on the skin?
Not at all; the sensation is one of the pleasant surprises of this treatment. The canes are polished completely smooth, warmed before use, and glide over skin that has already been prepared with massage oil, so what you feel is a warm, rolling firmness rather than anything raw or scratchy. Most guests say it is closer to a heated roller of gentle weight than to a wooden tool, and the warmth of the bamboo adds a soothing layer that hands alone cannot provide. Different cane sizes are used for different areas, larger ones for the back and legs, smaller ones for detailed work, and each is kept clean and smooth to a professional standard. If you have particularly sensitive skin, mention it when you book and your therapist will adjust the oil, warmth and pressure to suit.
Is bamboo massage good for cellulite?
It can help as part of a consistent routine, though no massage is a one-session fix and we will not pretend otherwise. The firm rolling action of the warmed canes stimulates micro-circulation and lymphatic flow in exactly the areas where cellulite tends to appear, the thighs, hips and glutes, and regular sessions visibly improve skin tone and texture over time. Guests who book bamboo consistently, weekly or fortnightly across two to three months, report the most noticeable change, especially when paired with hydration and movement between visits. A single session still leaves skin looking fresher simply because circulation is boosted, but the cumulative effect is the honest goal. Sessions are AED 630 for 60 minutes or AED 945 for 90. If smoother skin is your priority, tell us at booking so the session emphasises the right areas.
How is bamboo different from hot stone?
Both use warmth, but the character of the two treatments is opposite. Hot stone is sedating: heat from slowly worked basalt melts tension and typically sends guests to the edge of sleep. Bamboo is active: the warmed canes roll, press and knead in continuous motion, delivering genuine therapeutic depth with an energising, invigorating quality, so you leave feeling worked and awake rather than drowsy. Bamboo also reaches places manual work struggles with, the IT band, the muscles along the thoracic spine and the deep glutes, because the cane concentrates pressure more precisely than a hand can. Choose hot stone for a wind-down evening and deep rest; choose bamboo when you want knots addressed and fatigue rolled out but still have a day ahead of you. Both cost AED 630 for 60 minutes or AED 945 for 90.
Can I book bamboo as my first ever massage?
Yes, there is no rule that says you must work your way up to it. Bamboo suits first-timers perfectly well because the rolling pressure is broad and even, often easier to receive than focused manual deep work. Just tell us it is your first massage when you book on WhatsApp; your therapist will start gently, explain what each stage involves and build the depth only as your body relaxes into it. All eight of our licensed therapists perform bamboo, so scheduling is straightforward, and the treatment is uncommon enough in Dubai that starting here gives you a story most massage veterans cannot tell. Sessions run 60 or 90 minutes, AED 630 or AED 945, in a quiet private room at the LEVA Hotel on Al Wasl. Arrive ten minutes early, mention any injuries or sensitivities, and let the canes do the rest.
